The Chairperson and current Trustee of Te Manawaroa o Ngāti Tama Charitable Trust are seeking expressions of interest to add at least two, possibly up to five, additional trustees for Te Manawaroa Trust.
The Opportunity
Te Manawaroa Trust (TMT) is seeking new trustees to join and provide a high level of engaged, committed and collaborative leadership towards realising TMT's aspirations.
About Te Manawaroa Trust (TMT)
TMT Charitable Trust registration was confirmed 01/06/2022. This charitable trust has been set up as part of the Ngāti Tama o Taranaki cultural mitigation agreement with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. Under the agreement $7.7 million compensation has been paid into the trust to help address the project’s cultural impact on our interests. The compensation is for the benefit of Ngāti Tama uri. This includes fostering Ngāti Tama tikanga, reo, kawa and korero, and supporting the welfare of our members.
The Charity Document - Rules - also referred to as the Trust Deed, or Trust Order, is filed with Charities Services and available for all to read.
Who should apply?
You must be Ngāti Tama uri and be able to adequately demonstrate that through whakapapa. Applicants must be passionate about Ngāti Tama uri/community development and have the time available to contribute to the work of the Trust. The following skills and attributes would be an advantage.
Sitting Trustees of Te Runanga o Ngāti Tama are not eligible to be appointed as Trustees of Te Manawaroa o Ngāti Tama Charitable Trust.
Time Commitment
Trustee positions are voluntary and unpaid. Because TMT is newly established, it is expected there will be a reasonable demand for your time during the establishment phase. As a guide applicants could be expected to participate in two hui a month. Refer HERE for information pertaining to Charitable Trust trustees.
Expressions of interest close on Friday 9 December, 2:00PM.
