Te Rūnanga is currently progressing substantial projects and other initiatives for Ngāti Tama’s growth and development. These include enduring environmental programmes, a major roading partnership, employment and training opportunities and collaboration with
other Taranaki iwi around common interests.

Here is a great opportunity to provide key management support to the Board and create positive outcomes for our iwi.

Our newly appointed trustees for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Tama o Taranaki (TRoNT) are building on and creating opportunities for our iwi to flourish and we are seeking a Business Manager to help achieve this.

Ngāti Tama is well known for environmental work including translocation of kokako and kiwi and has negotiated pest management over 3,650 hectares of its whenua with Waka Kōtahi NZ Transport Agency.

TRoNT is partnering with Waka Kotahi on a major programme of work and formed an alliance with two neighbouring iwi to carry out significant environmental work. We also collaborate with other Taranaki iwi in areas of common interest. The Business Manager will participate in the ngā iwi o Taranaki management forum. Here’s the opportunity to make your mark as a leader with great interpersonal skills, strong business nous and passion to deliver outcomes for our iwi.

Your work

Working with the Board and its supporting committees, your key responsibilities include providing:

  • strategic development and operational performance
  • skilled financial and commercial management
  • programme and project monitoring and delivery
  • effective engagement and communications with members and stakeholders
  • support to ensure policies, procedures and plans are in place to manage the iwi’s assets and business activities.
About you

Your success in this role will include your ability to build close relationships with our whānau and understand the needs and aspirations of our iwi.

You will have:
  • at least five years’ experience in senior management roles
  • evidence of business planning and implementation
  • sound financial, contract and project management skills
  • well-developed communications and stakeholder engagement skills
  • strong organisation skills.
