WSP and Ngāti Tama Cadetship

WSP and Ngāti Tama Cadetship

Education and training have the power to change your life, help shape your future and pave the way for generations to come.

WSP and Ngāti Tama Cadetship

Over the years Te Rūnanga has built a relationship with WSP through Te Ara o Te Ata. We’re excited to be partnering with them to offer a Ngāti Tama member, a permanent job and cadetship. WSP is a global professional services firm providing services in engineering, architecture, project management, planning property consultancy and materials research. Their culture is forward thinking and “inspired by diversity, driven by inclusion”.

Start your career

The cadetship offers you on-the-job experience and supports you to gain a New Zealand Diploma (Level 6) in either civil engineering, surveying or another relevant area of study. A cadet role will lead into a career as a technician with multiple pathways to choose from, including draughting, surveying, contract management and more.

Each year you will receive a Study Award Grant to cover costs associated with course fees, materials, study leave, travel and accommodation. There is a period of bonding applied to our cadets.

Eligibility

Generally cadets should meet the following criteria:

  • be of Ngāti Tama descent
  • have achieved NCEA level 2* with a minimum of 48 credits at level 2 in four (4) subjects including at least 12 credits in mathematics (preferably achievement standards in algebra, calculus or trigonometry) or
  • have equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate or Cambridge) or
  • equivalent credits from appropriate trades training and/or demonstrated skills and experience, * including a minimum of 10 literacy credits at level 1 or higher (for those who achieved NCEA Level 2 before 2013).

There is some flexibility and the credits in maths are not essential if the study programme is not engineering or surveying.

You’ve got nothing to lose and so much to gain by taking up opportunity.
