Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Tama welcomes registrations from Ngāti Tama descendants. Te Rūnanga maintains a database of registered iwi members' names, whakapapa and contact details.

Who can register?

Adult members that whakapapa to Ngāti Tama ki Taranaki.
Whāngai on their own behalf or by their legal guardian.

Why register?

Registering as an iwi member of Ngāti Tama is about whakapapa – who we are and where we come from. As a registered member you can:

participate in the election of trustees to Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Tama trust
vote on tribal matters
access entitlements such as scholarships and other assistance the board may determine from time to time
be contacted more easily by the board about tribal matters.

How to register

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Tama accepts registrations from Ngāti Tama descendants and you can register online or by mail:

What happens to my application for registration?

A copy of your application form or application from whāngai is forwarded to the Membership Committee for verification.

You may be asked to provide further information in support of your application. Confirmation of your membership will be sent to you.

If your application for registration is declined, you have the right to seek a review. For more information contact the Rūnanga office admin@ngatitamaotaranaki.iwi.nz
